Dark Romanticism

Transcendentalism vs. Dark Romanticism:

I feel like i fall more toward transcendentalism because I am believe sometimes you should listen to the little voice inside your head, to an extent. I also believe that you should Never follow a crowd of people you should follow your own beliefs not others.

The Black Cat:

This was a really long and dark story. I think its about this man that he has a cats and loves animals, it says "Pluto--this was the cats name--my favorite cat and playmate." but he says " The furry of a demon possessed me. I knew myself no more." then he grabbed the cat by the throat and cut his eyeball from the socket. After a while the cat healed, but then he is possessed again and he hangs the cat by a tree limb. I could tell that this story was a Dark Romanticism because he is listening to the voice inside his head but the outcome isn't good, so I guess what this what I mean is dark romantics believed to do everything that popped into their head, but a lot of it wasn't good it was very dark and evil.

The Raven:

I thought this story was a great poem, especially for an example of Dark Romanticism, its about this bird talking to him and the bird is telling him he will love and be happy "nevermore." In order for this to be romantic you have to use your imagination to realize that this bird is talking to him and the man is asking the raven all these questions, but all the bird can say is "nevermore." its dark because the bird is making him feel even worse by him saying he will always be depressed and he will never love again.
