Puritans

The Puritans were very different than the rationalist in many ways. The Puritans beliefs were God had a reason for everything that ever happened or was going to happen. Nobody was should come in the way of what he was doing or they would be sent to hell immediately! They thought because of Adam and Eve's sin they were all going to be born sinners. No matter what anyone did, everyone is going to hell. They also believed Jesus didn't die for everyone he only died for some because only some were worthy enough.God's Grace is given freely to whomever he chooses, it can not be earned.

The pilgrims that came over on the mayflower were also known as puritans. When the puritans came over on the mayflower they thought of it as a great gift from god. They had just been given this beautiful land from god. On that land they made friends with the natives, also know as the Indians. They shared food with the Indians, such as corn, carrots, rice, peas...they even shared their first thanksgiving meal together.

The puitans beliefs were "Everyone is a sinner." They believed that John Edwards was a saint and that he had the grace of god and other saints were the only ones to have the grace of god. Saints were what they called people that told the word of god. They believed John was a saint because he wrote a very famous sermon called "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." When anyone read this sermon it was believed to take away evil or protect from evil. what I mean by protect from evil is, the sermon says that god is the only reason we are going strait to hell, he is the one that is holding us from burning in the firey pits of hell even though we deserve to go to hell. I'm not sure why the man that wrote this John Edwards was so crazy, but he must have been insane to scare people like this and tell everyone they need to beg for their lives because god wants to send them all to hell. I don't believe that the saints were telling these people the truth and I think its crazy that all of these people believed this and led terrible lives because they were always waiting on god to strike them to hell.
