The Anglo-Saxsons

I thought Beowulf was a good story, but it was really hard to understand even with watching the movie. I liked the story probably because I like old stories about fighting and Greek food, culture, and the way the dress. I really liked the battle scenes in this story, like when Grendel would come up and kill a bunch of soldiers. I thought it was cool when everyone was having a hard time and suffering and then Beowulf just came along and saved them.

Some parts that I thought stood out the most to me were, when nobody could defeat Grendel, then along comes Beowulf and called out to her and said he was a great man, he was the strongest, and he could defeat her.

I saw that it connected with The Anglo-Saxsons culture because in that culture there were gods for everything, and in Beowulf there is too. In the story Grendel is this big bad monster, and looking at the Anglo-Saxsons and Beowulf there was a lot violence with both of them. In both there was also many different gods for things and that also ties back to the Anglo-Saxsons.

This Story really wasn't that different to the stories that we have. One example of a hero story that little children watch is and read about is Hercules. Hercules is about a boy that is born from the gods and a human couple find him and adopt him for their own. As the boy grows up he gets more strength than the normal human boy. He saves his town from many evil things and tries to do good, but he just acts clumsy.

The lord of the underworld, Hadeas , sent some of his workers up to the human world to take away Hercules' powers, and they succeeded. In order to get his powers back he has to go on a quest to see the gods, after he succeeds on his quest he gets his powers back and lives happily ever after.

By using evidence they rely back to the material and bring out quotes and words that stuck out to them and showed what meaning it has to do with the subject.
