Short story 1 summary

The short story I read was called "To Hell With Dying" by Alice Walker. This story started out about an elderly man named Mr. Sweet. Mr. Sweet lives on an old farm and he is an elderly man that is an alcoholic and plays guitar, but it seems that the kids parents like him and don't seem to mind their kids playing with him.

The kids love him and love to tickle him. They love to hear him play the guitar, and they know that the guitar means a lot to him. Every time he gets close to dying or gets real sick, the kids dad comes and brings his kids and the kids run and jump on him and their dad says " To hell with dying, man, the children want Mr. Sweet!"

They went off to college after a while. He was walking one day when, his family called and told him that Mr. Sweet hadn't been doing that well and as soon as he heard that, he told them he would get on the first flight down there. When he arrived at the airport he took the first flight, which was four hours.

Once he got to town he walking in, and usually he would jump on his lap and tickle him, but he was far too big now. So he went over to his bedside and told Mr. Sweet, "To hell with dying , man, the children want Mr. Sweet!" Usually Mr. Sweet would reach out his hand and start to open his eyes, but this time he just laid there, this time it was his time to go.

Reading week 2

This week I read about lots of drama, Andy's little brother hitting a home run at a baseball game, and Gerald having a crush on the new girl, Jalani who is also Keisha and Ronda's new friend. Keisha isn't on cross country anymore, but she still runs for them. So after running the new Coach Johnathan Hathaway that everyone thinks is so cute except for Keisha starts to argue with a student for being late to practice, but nobody thinks its only about being late because she is also cut on her neck and her arm. After yelling back and forth towards each other She stomps off into the woods.

reading week 1

This week I read about Andy just committing suicide and his little brother finding him. In the first chapter everyone is pretty sad about just losing Rob and now having to lose Andy. After the funeral and everything else going on Keisha, Andy's ex girlfriend asks Andy's little brother Monty to go to the picnic with her and he says yes. They went to the picnic and had a great time at the fire later that night.
